The Gallery at the Airport opened in November 1994 on the second floor landing of the Eugene Airport terminal building. The Gallery is a permanent space for exhibitions of visual art and artifacts reflecting the artistic and cultural resources of the region. It provides an artistic greeting for businesses and leisure travelers, strengthens the image of the region as rich in cultural assets, and supports the visual arts and the creative work of our regional artists.
The main exhibit focus has been on presenting original work of local and regional artists, but has also featured presented works from collections of local and regional institutions or artwork by outside artists when related to a major event in the Eugene area. The Gallery at the Airport has an audience of more than 717,000 passengers every year.
Guided by long-time supporters Randy Stender and Dottie Chase, the Gallery at the Airport is currently managed through a consortium of local non-profit arts organizations; including the Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts (DIVA), Emerald Art Center, Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon, and Lane Community College – Division of Arts.
